Kath and Peter would like to congratulate Melinda and Nicholas Roffey on the purchase of our Beautiful imported, wonderfully bred son of Kids Classic Style, the Palomino stallion, CP Classic Sensation.
Melinda had booked 2 mares to Sensation as soon as his advertisement to stand at stud was released. In fact Sensations book was filled within 12 days of the magazine going to press! With many people disappointed and waiting on standby. We had decided to limit the outside breeding's on this young horse to 40, to allow Sensation to settle into a new climate and season. We did not want to knock him around by over booking the
lad.
Melinda Roffey called to ask could she come inspect the stallion as she wanted to assess him for two mares. Of course we are always accommodating to people wanting to breed to our stallions. Melinda flew in and stayed over. Her first impressions on Sensation blew her away. She was spell bound, as are most genuine people who see him. His presence, size, structure and most of all his nature, make you step back and pay attention.
Melinda told me later that day she was not going home with out him. Jokingly, I asked if she had booked an extra seat on the plane and did she think he'd fit. She was dead serious. I did not think she was at first....... Just goes to show you, never ever make judgments on what people might be prepared to do.
Melinda had been searching the world over for the right palomino stallion to SUIT HER NEEDS. A horse to produce all rounder's that are pretty enough to halter and sound enough (of mind and limb) to produce riders. ~ Its actually known as FORM TO FUNCTION ~ as soon as she laid eyes on Sensation she decided "he was the one for her". She watched me working with Sensation, walking around our yards teasing the mares
then come into the barn and be prepared and geared up for work. He was saddled standing beside other horses quietly, he lunged in the round yard under saddle and in side reins. He worked hard then we shampoo' d him and let him cool out standing tied beside the other stallion to dry off. After his work sessions he was turned loose in the field for his afternoon play and to graze. Melinda stood for hours admiring him. He came to the fence often on that sunny afternoon to talk to her. You really have to meet this
horse to appreciate his WONDERFUL EASY GOING NATURE AND TEMPERAMENT!!! Nothing fazes him and everything is a joy to him.
Later that afternoon Melinda decided to talk to me about the purchase of Sensation. Much to my amusement. That's where it all started.
Now lets make this crystal clear. Peter and I love this horse. We would not have purchased and imported him at great expense if we did not!!! HE WAS NOT FOR SALE!!! Money speaks all languages, and a great home assured made this a decision that suited us all.
CP have retained 10 breeding's in Sensation for 09 and some Lifetime breeding's. Melinda was written into contract to honour all re breeds (if any) on Sensation from the 08 breeding season and contracts taken if not used in 08 on the horse. I want this to be totally CLEAR to my clients.
I had a person from QLD that wanted to breed to Sensation. During their first call they asked to book on the 1/2 price breed contract for a Nat/state/show champion mare. The signed contract never arrived nor the payment. Today, Oct 23, 3 months after this first conversation( and many in between) the person had the Gaul to call me and tell me that they had "heard via the grapevine" that the horse had been SOLD.
(There was no grapevine! we made it clear on the AUSTRALIAN WESTERN HORSE SHOWCASE the horse was sold and I fully intended to write this note for the stallion page today for Toni to list on the www.) So they ask "What are you going to do about my re breed!!! This persons mare had not even been written on the breeding sheet as we had not as yet? Received a contract! I simply was honouring the verbal conversation we had 3 months prior. WELL, says I,(a gast and thinking as I spoke) You wont have to worry
about your re breed, your contract is not in as of today nor your money paid. So, really, we don't have anything further to discuss. POINT TAKEN! What an insult.
PLEASE NOTE ~ All and any breeding's taken by Coronation Park Stud in the 08 breeding season are written to contract and will be honoured by Melinda and Nicolas.
Sensation is being given every opportunity to prove his worth as a sire. My very best mares are being bred to him. All my imported mares are being bred to him !!(except our Kids Classic Style mares of course). Sensation has Doug Tallents seal of approval and some of the best breeders in the states have been amazed that we managed to buy him. Leading Hunter Valley horsemen have commented on his quality. His
fertility has proven to be amazing. He breeds natural OR collection. He has already settled 19 mares on shipped semen on one breed only! These mares foal early August to the second week in September!! What more could one ask for. He is as his name suggests SENSATIONAL.
Melinda will love working with and handling this GENTLEMAN of a horse. She takes possession of him after the 13th December. It will be a sad day when he leaves for already he has made an indelible mark on the horsemen, people, and veterinarians in this area. Ian Gollan LEADING HUNTER VET, thinks I'm crazy for selling him and had no qualms telling everyone so.
It was our intention to stand the two palomino stallions side by side, these bloodlines would certainly compliment each other.
